Navratri fasting and body detox
The main purpose of fasting for nine days is to detox and rejuvenate our body. Foods during fasting are light, easy to digest and rich in nutrients. If you follow fasting properly, it can help you lose weight and repair your body system.
But some mistakes made during this time can cost you your health. Therefore, we are telling you some such things which you should avoid during Navratri fast. Also, there are some important things that you should take care of.
Know what you should do during Navratri
1. Snacking Healthy
You can feel hungry at any time during fasting. At such times, do not eat fasting foods and chips made in the market, but eat something healthy at home. Roasted makhana, peanuts, dry fruits or any fruit of your choice – you can eat anything! Just avoid outside junk food.
2. Eat a Fiber Rich Diet
During Navratras, when you have limited time to eat, it is essential that you choose foods that are rich in fiber and take longer to digest. Fibers help you stay full for longer. Good choices include sama flour, rajgir, water chestnut, buckwheat and juicy fruits.
3. Get a good sleep
During fasting the body is detoxified and it needs plenty of rest. So make sure you get 7-8 hours of sleep daily. Try to rest and do meditation exercises to detox your body completely.
Know what you should not do during Navratri
1. Avoid Dehydration
The body is more likely to dehydrate during the fast, as you are eating less than on other days. To keep the body hydrated, take care of your water intake these days and drink enough water. You can also think about incorporating fluids like coconut water, milk and fresh fruit juices which are not only rich in nutrients but also recharge you.
2. Don’t Overeating
We know that fasting foods are very tasty. Also, we tend to eat light meals throughout the day or remain hungry till we do puja, so overeating can also occur. But think twice before doing this as it will not only defeat the purpose of fasting but will also affect your digestive system.
Do not eat too much fried food during the fast, as it can make you feel bloated. Also, eat small meals frequently, this is the best way to avoid overeating.
3. Eat less sweets
A lot of sweets available in the market are made from refined or processed sugar which is definitely unhealthy. You should avoid it as much as possible because it can cause you many health problems. Instead, make sweets at home and try to choose healthier alternatives to sugar like sugarcane and jaggery.
